Back from Colorado Springs

I just returned from a long weekend in Colorado Springs, visiting my maternal grandparents and helping move some stuff out of the ancestral home and into the assisted living community where they’ve moved. It was nice to spend time with my mother and sisters on our old stomping grounds, and to see the house where I have so many childhood memories, but also sad to see it substantively emptied and facing sale.

I was also able to review my grandfather’s gun collection, which is particularly significant for me as it includes all the guns I learned to shoot with, as well as some WWII relics my grandfather and I discovered in a footlocker, stripped (to the designer of the Luger: WTF where you thinking?), cleaned, and test-fired. I’ll post some pictures later.

All in all, it was a good trip, but I wish it hadn’t been necessary.
